Mr. Gonzalez is an experienced attorney with over seventeen years of litigation experience as a judge, prosecutor and private attorney. He handles
complex matters for his clients in a variety of areas. His professional and personal experience has provided him with the ability to concentrate on several areas of the
law and serve each client with excellence. He focuses his attention on litigating criminal, family, matrimonial, administrative and commercial matters.
Mr. Gonzalez’ practice includes the defense of individuals charged with serious criminal cases. In public and private practice, he has litigated several hundred criminal
matters involving a wide range of cases including white collar crimes and homicides.
Mr. Gonzalez also counsels municipal employees on administrative matters including representing them before various administrative tribunals. He has represented clients
before the Department of Investigation, the Office of Administrative Trials and Hearings, the Civil Service Commission, the Office of Labor Relations, the Office of
Collective Bargaining and at various Agency disciplinary and equal opportunity offices.
Mr. Gonzalez’ other areas of legal expertise include matrimonial actions and family court disputes. He has represented mothers and fathers in actions involving paternity,
custody, visitation, and child support; and has represented husbands and wives in divorce actions involving equitable distribution of marital property, complex calculations
involving net worth determinations, alimony and pre-nuptial agreements.
Mr. Gonzalez’s practice also includes representing the interests of business owners. He has formed, sold and purchased businesses on behalf of his clients; drafted contracts
and commercial leases; negotiated settlements with governmental agencies; and represented commercial clients in court.
Prior to forming Gonzalez Oberlander & Holohan LLP, Mr. Gonzalez served as a Deputy Commissioner under the Giuliani and Bloomberg Administrations. During his extensive
twenty years of public service he has also served as an Administrative Law Judge, General Counsel, and Assistant District Attorney.
Mr. Gonzalez received his law degree from New York Law School in 1990. He received a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Long Island University in 1985 where he majored in
Criminal Justice and minored in Sociology. Mr. Gonzalez is currently a member of the New York County Lawyers’ Association, the Puerto Rican Bar Association, and is admitted
to practice law in New York, New Jersey and the Federal District Court of New Jersey.
